I love going to farmers markets. I love talking to the farmers and finding out where my food is coming from and buying local produce. Since I live in Toronto and we tend to have long winters, there is only a short season where we get fresh, local produce, so I like to get it while I can in the summer months.
My favourite farmers market is the one at Evergreen Brickworks. It's convenient because it's one of the few markets that are on the weekend and there are a lot of vendors to choose from, who sell everything from seasonal fruits and vegetables to wine and cheese. It's not walking distance from my place but it's close enough that I'm willing to make the trip on Wheel Trans on a Saturday morning.
The farmers market at Evergreen Brickworks is every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. year-round.
